All vehicle rentals in Leeds are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies, the Rental Agreement will take priority over these Terms.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Leeds, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can vary based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, as well as valid identification and proof of your current address. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Leeds location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as received, barring normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if the tank is less full. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please reach out to us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or associated charges during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Information
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other risky behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Leeds is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law in Leeds
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
